The Walker Organ

The Walker Organ in St Mark’s Church, Regent’s Park

Constructed from two earlier, redundant instruments, the organ was installed by J W Walker and Sons in 1957. The pipework is in a chamber at the west end of the south aisle. There are 44 speaking stops. The three-manual and pedal console is in a gallery at the east end of the aisle, beside the Choir. The organ has electro-pneumatic action and contains pipework by Hunter, Willis and Hill. Following the fire of 1996 the organ was substantially re-wired but no other serious work had been done since its installation. During 2013/2014 the organ was fine-tuned and re-balanced and the failing stop-machines upgraded, the work being done by Gary Owens of GO Organs who continue to maintain the instrument.
